TOWARDS RECONCILIATION
Fund to provide more Indigenous students with access to a university education. In 2022, we embarked on a new project with Enactus Canada to increase inclusion and belonging with Indigenous students across the country. Over the next several years, we will work with Enactus to create a new CWB Indigenous Fellowship program and CWB Inclusion Project Accelerator to support the development of projects focused on a specific need or community group.
In 2022, we continued to take concrete actions towards reconciliation with Indigenous communities through our community investment activities. During the year, we supported iHuman, an artist collective in Edmonton focused to provide marginalized youth with a safe space and access to opportunities to build a sense of purpose, self-worth, identity and belonging. We also took part in an event held by the Indigenous Lift Collective to support decolonization of self- care practices and sponsored a lecture through the Institute of Canadian Citizenship aimed to facilitate conversations about how reconciliation and immigration relate to one another. To support access to learning opportunities, virtual CWB volunteer reading coaches supported students within classrooms located in Indigenous communities. Reading coaches provided 80 hours of tutoring through 240 reading sessions. To further support cultural and language revitalization, we funded the creation of four original Indigenous children’s storybooks. We invested in Indigenous transition programs at universities across Canada and the National Indian Brotherhood Trust
PARTNERING WITH THE UNITED WAY
CWB continues to actively support United Way TM agencies across Canada to create pathways out of poverty. In 2022, we invested nearly $420,000 through corporate donations, our annual workplace giving campaign, team member fundraising efforts, and matching contributions.
Refer to our Community giving webpage for information about the process to apply for donations and sponsorships.
