ALIGNED APPROACH TO COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

Our approach to community investment has a strong focus on financial inclusion. We support organizations that are dedicated to the success of current and future business owners in Canada and foster financial literacy. Refer to the Community investment section for further details.

CREATING ACCESSIBLE FACILITIES, SERVICES AND PRODUCTS

Guided by our accessibility program, we are committed to provide our clients with equal access to our products and services. Our approach to accessibility follows the principles of independence, dignity, integration and equality of opportunity as set out in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Our locations feature barrier-free access, wheelchair accessible automated banking machines, and other design features to support our diverse clients. We tailor our communications to meet the needs of our clients and provide documents in alternative formats, such as braille and large font upon request, and our multilingual team members offer streamlined services in several languages. Our ongoing digital transformation is enhancing our self-service channels, which remove physical barriers through ease-of-use for people with a variety of needs. On an annual basis, our team members complete training focused on creating an accessible environment for our clients. Refer to our accessibility program web-page for further information on our approach.

PROTECTING SENIORS

Financial abuse is the most common form of elder abuse in Canada. We protect seniors from financial abuse, fraud and scams by establishing genuine relationships and ensuring appropriate policies and controls are in place. We adopted the voluntary Code of Conduct for the Delivery of Banking Services to Seniors (Seniors Code) published by the Canadian Bankers Association. The Seniors Code aligns with our values and helps direct our policies towards the areas that affect seniors the most. Our internal Seniors Champion provides leadership in implementing the Seniors Code, promotes awareness, and engages with subject matter experts and organizations representing seniors. Our Seniors program works closely with our Accessibility program. Our ongoing efforts to strengthen our commitment to the Seniors Code include:
